Spanish Striker Eyes January Move
Fernando Llorente wants to leave Juventus and could be heading to the Premier League this January with Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenaham all showing an interest
Despite the summer transfer window being closed there is still plenty of gossip in the newspapers, so we’ll keep you up to date on all the latest transfer news. Today, Fernando Llorente could be heading to the Premier League this winter.
Fernando Llorente wants to cut short his stay at Juventus and could be heading to the Premier League this January with Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenaham all showing an interest, according to the Daily Star.
The Spanish hitman moved to Turin on a free transfer in June after running down his contract at Athletic Bilbao but has been forced to play second fiddle to Carlos Tevez and Mirko Vucinic in Antonio Conte’s pecking order so far this season.
The Mirror reported earlier this week that the 28-year-old and his family were struggling to settle in Italy and were ready to consider their options, and now the Daily Star are citing report coming out of Italy that suggest Llorente has now decided to seek a move away when the transfer window re-opens in January.
The newspaper claims that the striker has already told Juventus official’s that he will leave if his situation doesn’t change over the coming weeks and it seems Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs are ready to offer him an escape route to England.
Arsenal appear the most desperate for striking reinforcements with boss Arsene Wenger heavily reliant on Olivier Giroud at present, while Chelsea could also be looking to add to their options up front come January if their current crop of strikers continue to misfire in front of goal.
Spurs currently have three senior strikers on the books with Roberto Soldado, Jermain Defoe and Emmanuel Adebayor all options for Andre Villas-Boas so it’s difficult to see where Llorente could potentially fit in unless one of the trio leaves.
