Arsenal take on West Bromwich Albion in the third round of the Capital One Cup tonight and boss Arsene Wenger has named his 18-man squad for the game.
With the Gunners squad decimated by injuries to the attacking third, Wenger has opted to rest a whole host of his first team players.
Jack Wilshere, Aaron Ramsey, Mesut Ozil and Olivier Giroud are just some of the players given the evening off with the likes of Nicklas Bendtner, Ju-Young Park, Ryo Miyaichi and Serge Gnabry in the squad and expected to feature.
The back four may have a more familiar look to it with Thomas Vermaelen, Per Mertesacker, Nacho Monreal and Carl Jenkinson all in the squad along with experienced midfielders Mathieu Flamini and Mikel Arteta.
Wenger has also named several youth players in his squad with Thomas Eisfeld, Chuba Akpom, Hector Bellerin, Isaac Hayden, Alex Iwobi and Kristoffer Olsson all expected to be on the bench.
Here’s the squad that Wenger has chosen to travel to the Hawthorns:
4 Per Mertesacker
5 Thomas Vermaelen
8 Mikel Arteta
13 Emiliano Viviano
17 Nacho Monreal
20 Mathieu Flamini
21 Lukasz Fabianski
23 Nicklas Bendtner
25 Carl Jenkinson
30 Ju-Young Park
31 Ryo
37 Chuba Akpom
40 Hector Bellerin
42 Thomas Eisfeld
44 Serge Gnabry
45 Isaac Hayden
53 Kristoffer Olsson
60 Alex Iwobi
The starting eleven will have a mix of youth and experience but the game offers a huge chance to forgotten striker Nicklas Bendtner to revive his Arsenal career after two years in the wilderness.
