Arsene Wenger has given a positive injury update on Tomas Rosicky with the Arsenal manager confirming that the midfielder could be back to face Napoli on Tuesday.
Rosicky has been on the sidelines since injuring his hamstring while away on international duty earlier this month but it seems he could be set to make a timely return to action.
The Gunners face a tricky away trip to face Swansea on Saturday evening and while the Czech international will still be short to be in contention this weekend, his return against the Italians in the Champions League would be a huge boost.
A weakened Arsenal side came through a tough fixture at West Brom last night, eventually progressing to the next round of the Capital One Cup with a 4-3 win in a penalty shoot-out, so Wenger will have to make checks on some of his players ahead of the trip to Wales on Saturday.
Here is what Arsene told Arsenal.com:
on the team news ahead of Saturday…
We rested many players yesterday at West Brom and some others players came back like Arteta, who played 90 minutes in his first game, and Bendtner. We have to check everybody tomorrow [Friday] morning but, from last Saturday, all the players should be available.
on Tomas Rosicky…
Rosicky should be back in the training squad on Monday so he has a chance to be available for the squad on Tuesday. Saturday is too short for him. But we all love Rosicky so it’s good to have him back.
The Arsenal squad has been decimated by injuries to several attacking players with Rosicky joined on the sidelines by the likes of Santi Cazorla, Lukas Podolski, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Theo Walcott in recent weeks, so it’s no surprise Wenger will be delighted to have Rosicky back.
How big a boost do you think it is to have Rosicky back? Where do you think he’ll fit in?
