Manchester United are lining-up a shock swap deal involving out-of-favour Shinji Kagawa and Borussia Dortmund defender Neven Subotic, according to the Express.

Manchester United are lining-up a shock swap deal involving out-of-favour midfielder Shinji Kagawa and Borussia Dortmund defender Neven Subotic, according to the Express.
Kagawa has struggled to establish himself at United following a move from Dortmund in 2012 and has fallen down the pecking order under new boss David Moyes this season, leading to speculation he could be unsettled at Old Trafford.
The Japanese international remains a huge favourite back at Dortmund with fans recently creating an online petition to try and bring him back ‘home’, while manager Jurgen Klopp has aired his views on the 24-year-old being under-utilised at United and admitted he’d love to have him back in Germany.
The Express claim that Moyes is willing to part company with Kagawa in January in order to land his own target – Serbian defender Subotic – with a potential swap deal on the cards.
Subotic has established himself as one of the best centre-backs in the Bundesliga and it seems Moyes would rather strengthen his back-line than continue with what he sees as a bit-part player in Kagawa.
It remains to be seen how Dortmund would respond to such a proposal as Subotic remains an integral part of their plans, but it would certainly soften the blow of losing him if they were to get their former midfielder in exchange.
