Arsenal & Liverpool Make Our ‘Top 5’ Most Impressive Starts To The Season
Arsenal and Liverpool are included in our 5 clubs who have made the most impressive starts based on the expectations going into the new Premier League season:
We are seven games in to the new Premier League season and already this set to be a roller-coaster campaign with many surprises in store. Here are the 5 clubs who I think have made the most impressive starts based on the expectations going into the new season:
5. Aston Villa
Compared to some optimistic fans’ expectations it is an insult to say Villa have had a good start, but after last season’s shambles and some less-than-average Summer additions, Lambert’s men have bounced-back and sit comfortably in 11th with a stunning 3-1 win over Arsenal a particular highlight so far. If Benteke returns from injury and regains his form quickly, then Villa may be able to turn this positive start into a great season.
4. Hull City
As if promotion was not surprising enough for the Tigers, they are now tearing up England’s top flight and are comfortably at the right end of the table. Whether it is a Brady penalty being nestled or a solid defensive performance that gets 3 points, Bruce knows what he is doing and may guide Hull away from the relegation dog-fight to secure their Premier League status for another season.
3. Liverpool
Second is far beyond the majority of Premier League clubs’ expectations but Liverpool’s rich history proves they are no strangers to the dizzy heights of the top two. The formidable partnership of Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge is ruining the best of defences in the league and the Reds look like the dark horses in the title race this year.
2. Southampton
After some impressive faces joining St. Marys in the Summer, Southampton have had a rocket start and have undergone an excellent transformation. Mauricio Pochettino has brought a philosophy of youth and creativity to the South Coast side and combined with Lambert’s goal-scoring form it could push them further than ever before.
1. Arsenal
Wenger’s policy is finally paying off! Little money spent [with the exception of Özil of course] and young players like Gibbs, Wilshere and Ramsey blossoming has lead the Gunners to be top of the table after the opening stages of the campaign. Arsenal may not have faced any big Guns as of yet [except Spurs], but with some big players due to return from injury, I expect they will give anyone a run for their money this season.
