Arsenal take on Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League on Tuesday night looking to go one step closer to securing safe passage to the knockout stages.
The Gunners head into the game in fine form having moved two points clear at the top of the Premier League table with a 4-1 win over Norwich on Saturday, so should be full of confidence as they take on last years losing finalists.
Boss Arsene Wenger has been in front of the media on Monday morning for his pre-match press conference and gave Arsenal.com the latest team news including an update on the fitness of midfielder Mathieu Flamini.
The Frenchman was substituted in the first half against the Canaries after a clash of heads left him with concussion and Wenger has confirmed that the clubs doctor has advised they enforce the five day rule for this injury meaning Flamini won’t be in contention tomorrow.
His absence is likely to see Aaron Ramsey return to the starting line-up to play alongside Mikel Arteta in midfield. Otherwise, Arsenal have no new injury concerns to contend with but Wenger did hint he may mix things up a little bit.
Here’s what Wenger told the clubs official website today:
on Mathieu Flamini…
He is doing well. He has practised normally but we will not play him because there is a five-day rule that we will respect. We will not to take any chances. It was a concussion and the doctor advised us not to play him. He will be OK for the weekend.
on other changes and possible rotation…
A little bit yes, certainly, but I leave myself 24 hours until tomorrow [Tuesday] afternoon to decide that.
With the team in such fine form, you’d think he’ll keep changes to a minimum but the one switch we might see is Tomas Rosicky coming in for Santi Cazorla with the Spaniard still not 100% match fit after making his first start on Saturday in over 6 weeks.
