David Moyes Extensive List Of Transfer Targets Revealed – Who Would You Want?
It seems Man Utd boss David Moyes is preparing for a January spending spree and has lined up a star-studded list of targets. See who’s he’s got his eye on here
Although the summer transfer window is officially closed that doesn’t stop clubs working hard behind the scenes to prepare for future signings, so we’ll keep you up-to-date with all the latest gossip. Today, Manchester United’s extensive transfer target list is revealed.
Despite a 1-0 win over Arsenal catapulting Manchester United back into the title race, it seems boss David Moyes is preparing for a January spending spree and has lined up a star-studded list of targets, according to the Daily Mail.
The newspaper claims that top of Moyes’ priorities is making a double swoop on Borussia Dortmund for midfield duo Marco Reus and Ilkay Gundogan with the Scot prepared to sweeten the deal by offering Shinji Kagawa in a player-plus-cash swap deal.
Reus has been in outstanding form for Dortmund since making the move from Borussia Monchengladbach in the summer of 2012 and reports suggest he has a £29m buy-out clause in his contract. He would certainly solve the lack of creativity problem at Old Trafford and offering Dortmund a like-for-like replacement in Kagawa could tilt the deal in United’s favour.
Gundogan has also been a stand-out performer at the Westfalenstadion in recent seasons and would add some steel to the United team if they managed to lure him to Manchester.
The Mail also claim that Moyes still hasn’t given up all hope of signing Cesc Fabregas and was given fresh encouragement that the player could be getting frustrated at his lack of regular involvement at Barcelona following his comments on Saturday after he scored two goals during a win over Betis:
‘Today was time to say that I am here. I know the boss has a starting team in his head, and I am not in it.
‘I played a good game against Celta, and then I was left out for most of the two games [against Espanyol and AC Milan], and that really messes you up. Today I wanted to vindicate myself so that does not happen again.’ Fabregas is quoted as saying by the Mail
The newspaper suggests that Moyes has also sent his scouts to keep an eye on several Real Madrid players this season with Marcelo, Angel Di Maria, Luca Modric and Fabio Coentrao all thought to be of interest. None of the quartet hold down a regular first team place under Carlo Ancelotti and could therefore be open to moves with the World Cup just around the corner and they would certainly add to the quality already on offer at Old Trafford.
A left-back certainly seems to be a key area of concern for Moyes because as well as Marcelo and Coantrao, the report states that the former Everton man has earmarked Sevillas Alberto Moreno and Southampton’s Luke Shaw as other potential replacements for Patrice Evra.
So, according to the Mail the midfielders Moyes is looking at are Reus, Gundogan, Fabregas, Modric and Di Maria while the left-backs under consideration are Marcelo, Coentrao, Moreno and Shaw.
There is certainly plenty of quality in there but if you had to pick one from each position, who would you like to see sign for the club in January? Are these realistic targets for United? Which are attainable?
