Arsenal, Chelsea, Man Utd and Spurs are among the clubs who’re expected to step up their interest in Ukrainian winger Yevhen Konoplyanka over the coming weeks
Although the summer transfer window is officially closed that doesn’t stop clubs working hard behind the scenes to prepare for future signings, so we’ll keep you up-to-date with all the latest gossip. Today, a host of top clubs are chasing Yevhen Konoplyanka.
Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham are among the clubs who’re expected to step up their interest in Ukrainian winger Yevhen Konoplyanka over the coming weeks, according to the Daily Star.
The 24-year-old will line-up for his country against France in the first leg of their World Cup play-off on Friday night ahead of the return leg in Paris next Tuesday, and a number of scouts are ready to run-the-rule over his performances.
The Star claim that representatives from a whole host of top European clubs including Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Tottenham, PSG, Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen will be in the stands to keep an eye on the highly-rated winger after all registering their interest in signing him.
The newspaper states that Konoplyanka’s club Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk rejected a £10m bid from an unnamed Premier League club in the summer but are expecting fresh bids when the transfer window re-opens and have slapped a £15m price-tag on his head.
The players agent, James Lippett, has confirmed they are aware of the interest being shown and are expecting interest this winter.
“We are aware of the interest from a number of Europe’s major clubs.
“This is only normal when you are talking about a star player like Konoplyanka.
“He can do things on a football pitch that very few players can come close to, so we are expecting an interesting January.” Lippett is quoted as saying in the Star
Konoplyanka is an exciting winger who would certainly gets bums off seats if he did make a move to England in January, and fans may remember him after he put in an excellent display against England during their World Cup qualifier, scoring a stunner as Ukraine walked away from Wembley with a 1-1 draw.
We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the next few weeks as we approach the January window, as the race hots up for one of the most talented players to come out of Ukraine in recent years.
