Ozil, Ronaldo, Sakho & More: Players React On Twitter To International Results
The two-week international break came to a close with an enthralling Tuesday night packed with action. Here’s what some of the players had to say on Twitter
The two-week international break came to a close with an enthralling Tuesday night packed with action. Germany continued their dominance over England with a 1-0 win at Wembley and South Africa stunned Spain with a shock 1-0 victory.
However, France and Portugal stole the headlines after booking their place at the 2014 World Cup in dramatic fashion. The French made history after becoming the first side in history to overturn a 2-0 first leg deficit to reach the World Cup with a 3-0 win over Ukraine at the Parc des Princes. Liverpool’s Mamadou Sakho was the hero scoring twice.
Portugal were made to sweat by a Zlatan Ibrahimovic inspired Sweden side who at one stage led last nights game 2-1, levelling the tie at 2-2, before Cristiano Ronaldo scored a stunning hat-trick to ease Portugal into the finals 4-2 on aggregate.
Unsurprisingly, Twitter was buzzing after the games with the likes of Mesut Ozil, Rio Ferdinand and last nights hero’s Ronaldo and Sakho all taking to the social network to react to the nights events. See what they had to say here:
Great evening for #afc and all my friends in the #wcq 2014. Per and cristiano you are totally awesome! M1Ö
