Jackson Martinez has put Arsenal on red alert after admitting he supported the club as a child and would jump at the chance of moving to the Emirates, according to the Mirror.
The Colombian hitman has continued his excellent form for Porto this season, scoring 12 goals in just 14 games, to help the club sit joint top of the Portuguese Liga table.
His performances have seen him linked with a whole host of top European clubs in recent months but the 27-year-old has revealed that he supported Arsenal when he was young and has admitted that he would love to make the move to north London if the Gunners came calling as he feels the clubs style of play would suit him.
“I cheered for Arsenal when I was a kid – I love their style of play,” he said.
“It’s flowing and open with a lot of first touch passes. It would be suitable for a player like me.
“If I get a chance to play for a high level club like Arsenal I wouldn’t hesitate to accept it.” Martinez is quoted as saying by the Mirror
Arsenal currently sit top of the Premier League after an excellent first half of the season but Arsene Wenger is expected to dip into the transfer market this month to buy a new striker.
The club have been heavily reliant on Olivier Giroud so far this campaign and his potential replacement, Nicklas Bendtner, has just been ruled out for at least a month with an ankle knock leaving Wenger worryingly lacking in options up front.
Martinez would certainly lighten the load on Giroud and provide the Gunners with a real goal threat in attack, with the free-scoring South American netting 49 goals in just 64 appearances since joining Porto from Mexican side Jaguares in 2012.
