Chelsea take on Newcastle United at St James Park this Saturday looking to continue their excellent form. Here’s our predicted starting line-up for the game
Chelsea take on Newcastle United at St James Park this Saturday looking to continue their excellent recent form.
Jose Mourinho is likely to keep faith with the majority of the team that played so well during Monday’s 1-0 win over Manchester City. The back five were in superb form at the Etihad and are unlikely to be changed for this game meaning Ashley Cole will have to make-do with a place on the bench once again.
Nemanja Matic was particularly impressive against City and he’ll surely retain his place in midfield, although we could see Ramires drop back slightly with David Luiz the man who could miss out.
This would allow Mourinho to recall the creative talent of Oscar after he was left out against the Citizens, and the Brazilian playmaker could line-up in attack alongside Eden Hazard and Willian.
Fernnado Torres is still nursing a knee injury so it’s likely that Samuel Eto’o will continue up front, although Demba Ba is pushing for a start.
Here’s our predicted starting line-up:
The victory over Man City saw Chelsea move level on points with their rivals in second place and the Blues could go top if leaders Arsenal lose away at Liverpool in Saturday’s early kick off, so Mourinho will be sure to have his team ready to take advantage of any slips ups.
