€20m-Rated Attacker Keen To Hold Talks With Liverpool + Man Utd
€20m-rated Xherdan Shaqiri would like to hold talks with Liverpool and Manchester United WHEN the duo make offers for the Bayern Munich winger this summer
The January transfer window may have slammed shut but clubs will still be working hard behind the scenes at identifying targets for the summer, so we’ll bring you all the latest news, gossip and rumours. Today, Liverpool and Man Utd are linked with Xherdan Shaqiri.
The brother of Xherdan Shaqiri claims that they would like to hold talks with Liverpool and Manchester United WHEN the duo make offers for the Bayern Munich winger this summer, according to the Mirror.
The 22-year-old was hot-property when he moved to the Allianz Arena in the summer of 2012 from FC Basel, with Bayern beating a number of clubs to the players signature.
However, after a reasonable debut season in the Bundesliga, he’s failed to establish himself as a regular in Pep Guardiola’s first team this campaign – making just 14 appearances in the league so far.
Obviously it’s no easy task to break into the European champions midfield given the quality on offer to Guardiola, but it seems the Swiss international is growing tired of sitting on the sidelines and a move to England could be on the cards.
Shaquiri’s brother, Erdin, has suggested that the winger will look at his options at the end of the season and would be keen on speaking with the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United when they make formal approaches to Bayern for the player’s services.
“Xherdan is 22. At this age, he needs to be playing regularly, which is not currently the case.
“We are waiting now until summer. Then, when clubs make approaches such as Liverpool, Manchester United, Inter Milan and other top clubs, we can listen to their offers.
“That said, Bayern still remains our first point of contact before we talk to other clubs.” Erdin Shaquiri is quoted as saying by the Mirror.
Shaquiri was linked with a move to Anfield in January when Brendan Rodgers was looking to add an attacker to his ranks, but with the player still contracted to the German giants until 2016, a move failed to materialise.
The Swiss international’s brother seems to suggest that the Merseysiders will renew their interest and along with Man Utd, they are lining-up summer moves, while the Mirror also claim that it will take an offer of €20m (£16.7m) to persuade Bayern to cash in.
Whether the duo will be willing to meet that kind of figure remains to be seen but Shaquiri would certainly be an exciting addition if either club were successful in luring him to the Premier League.
He’s only 5ft 6″, but is well built so should be able to cope with the physical nature of English football, and while he’s predominantly left-footed, he can play on either wing and his pace makes him a dangerous opponent.

I’d love to see him try his luck in the Premiership next season and with Liverpool and United tipped to be active in the market this summer, fingers crossed one of them is able to land the tricky attacker.
