The draw for the quarter finals of the 2013/14 Champions League has taken place on Friday morning and Chelsea and Man Utd have been handed difficult tasks.
Chelsea last won the trophy in 2012 and cruised through the group stages to reach the last 16 where they were up against Didier Drogba’s Galatasaray. After a 1-1 draw in Turkey in the first leg, Chelsea eased into the last 8 with a comfortable 2-0 win at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night.
Jose Mourinho’s men have been rewarded with a tough tie against big-spending French outfit Paris Saint-Germain – who thrashed Bayer Leverkusen 6-1 in the previous round, with the first leg to be played away from home.
Manchester United have put their domestic problems behind them and impressed in the group stages before turning around a 2-0 deficit from the first leg to beat Olympiakos 3-0 at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.
However, David Moyes men will now have to navigate past reigning champions Bayern Munich in the quarter finals after the German giants beat Arsenal 3-1 on aggregate. The first leg will be at Old Trafford.
The draw also paired Real Madrid against Borussia Dortmund, while Barcelona will take on fellow La Liga outfit Atletico Madrid.
Ties will be played 1st / 2nd April and 8th / 9th April.
