Liverpool are in Wales to take on Cardiff City on Saturday afternoon looking to close the gap at the top of the table.
The Reds head into the weekend action sitting second in the Premier League on goal difference from Arsenal and just four points off leaders Chelsea, so they are right in the mix for the title this season.
With their two closest rivals playing each other at Stamford Bridge this weekend, Liverpool will be looking to take advantage of the fact at least one of their fellow title contenders will drop points by securing a win at the Cardiff City Stadium.
Brendan Rodgers side confirmed their status as serious challengers for the title with a comprehensive 3-0 win over defending champions Manchester United at Old Trafford last Sunday, so they’ll be looking to continue their excellent form tomorrow.
Cardiff are desperate for points for entirely different reasons with the Bluebirds sitting second bottom of the table after picking up just two wins in 2014 so far.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer knows they have some huge games against those around them coming up but he’ll be hoping to go into those fixtures on a high with a positive result against the Merseysiders.
Team News
Liverpool have no new injury worries to contend with for the game and Rodgers could name an unchanged line-up from the side that performed so well against United last week.
Lucas Leiva is pushing for a recall after making a late substitute appearance last Sunday while defender Mamadou Sakho is also fully fit again after recovering from a hamstring injury that’s kept him out for over 10 weeks. However, the duo may have to make do with places on the bench tomorrow.
The hosts are able to welcome back defender Ben Turner after he returned to training on Friday after recovering from a knock that kept him out of last weeks 2-1 defeat at Everton.
Andrew Taylor remains a doubt while skipper Mark Hudson has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a hamstring injury.
Likely Line-Ups
Key Man
Daniel Sturridge: The striker may not have been on the score-sheet last week but he was in excellent form once again and Cardiff are going to have to find a way to keep Sturridge, Suarez and Sterling quite if they want to get something from the game.
Predicted Score
Cardiff 0-2 Liverpool: Sadly for the Welsh side, I simply don’t see them being able to keep Liverpool out and we can see the Anfield club continuing their impressive form.
