Eden Hazard Lined-Up For €60m PSG Move As Blanc Confirms Interest
PSG are lining-up another big-money swoop on Chelsea with a €60million move for Eden Hazard after Laurent Blanc confirmed his interest in the Belgian ace.
As we approach the opening of the summer window clubs will be intensifying their efforts in the transfer market so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, could Eden Hazard follow David Luiz to PSG?
Paris Saint-Germain are lining-up another big-money swoop on Chelsea with reports today claiming that they will make a €60m move for Eden Hazard after Laurent Blanc confirmed his interest in the Belgian ace.
Hazard was recently voted as Chelsea’s Player of the Season after an excellent campaign that saw him score 14 goals in his 35 Premier League appearances, and his impressive form also led to him being named the PFA Young Player of the Year.
However, it appears he’s also left an impression on Laurent Blanc with the PSG boss telling reporters that he’s a huge admirer of the Belgians and hinted that he is a prime target for the big-spending French champions this summer.
‘Why do I love Eden Hazard? Because he is a player who eliminates.
‘We can discuss all of the systems, or a player’s individual or collective qualities.
‘But a player who can eliminate three, four players at any time in a game is something else.
‘We do not know what to expect with these players. They destabilise the opponent.
‘We know we want plan A. But of course there is a plan B if he doesn’t come. There is also a plan C.’ Blanc is quoted as saying by the Telegraph.
The Frenchman went public with his desire to land Hazard just hours after the club had agreed a €60m deal with Chelsea for Brazilian centre-back David Luiz, with the 27-year-old passing a medical and agreeing personal terms at Brazil’s World Cup training camp on Friday.
The sale of Luiz is an excellent piece of business by Chelsea as they’ve recouped a ridiculous fee for a player who’s not considered a vital first team member, but it’s also a huge gamble by Jose Mourinho as he’s taken the decision to sell one of Roman Abramovich’s favourite players.
Many have questioned how PSG can afford to spend such money when they’ve recently been sanctioned by UEFA for failing to meet their Financial Fair Play guidelines, but it seems their spending isn’t going to stop there with the Telegraph claiming they are now ready to table another €60m offer for Hazard.
If Luiz is worth €60m (£50m), then Hazard must be worth twice that figure, so I don’t see Chelsea entertaining it. Unlike the defender, the 23-year-old is a key player who is central to Mourinho’s plans – despite the Portuguese coach criticising him for his lack of team ethic following his error in their Champions League semi final defeat to Atletico Madrid.

Hazard has since admitted Mourinho was right to question him and claims he needs to improve if he wants to be considered as one of the best in the world, so there is no issue between the two men that could make the attacker push for a move away from Stamford Bridge. So unless PSG are going to bid in excess of €80m, I don’t see the Blues even contemplating cashing in this summer.
