As we approach the opening of the summer window clubs will be intensifying their efforts in the transfer market so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, Man Utd are linked with Alexis Sanchez.
Manchester United appear to have moved ahead of Liverpool in the race to sign Alexis Sanchez after opening talks with Barcelona over a potential €25m deal for the attacker, according to reports today.
Sanchez is expected to leave the Nou Camp this summer as part of a major squad overhaul by new boss Luis Enrique and understandably there are a number of top clubs showing a keen interest.
Reports have suggested that Serie A champions Juventus want to lure the 25-year-old back to Italy but failed with an opening £16.5m bid, while Liverpool are also understood to have tabled an offer for the Chilean international but have so far been unable to agree terms with Barcelona.
Sanchez still has two years remaining on his contract and the Catalans are believed to be holding out for at least €25m (£20m), and it looks like they might just have found a club willing to meet that figure.
The Express are one of several newspapers who are reporting that new boss Louis van Gaal has identified Sanchez as a key signing this summer and United are now ready to match Barca’s €25m asking price.
It remains to be seen whether Liverpool will respond to United’s interest by upping their initial offer, but it appears for now United are in the driving seat to bring the exciting attacker to the Premier League this summer.
Despite not being able to establish himself as a first team regular following his move from Udinese three years ago, Sanchez has posted some impressive figures at the Nou Camp and chipped in with 21 goals and 15 assists last season alone, so he’d certainly be considered a major coup if United could pull it off.
