Liverpool Set To Table Formal €23m Bid For Chelsea Target
Liverpool are set to table a €23m bid for Arsenal and Chelsea target Ezequiel Lavezzi but could miss out with the PSG ace believed to favour a move to Juventus
The summer transfer window is now well under way and managers are working hard to strengthen their squads ahead of next season, so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, Liverpool are linked with a €23m bif for Chelsea and Arsenal target Ezequiel Lavezzi.
Liverpool are set to table a formal €23m bid for Arsenal and Chelsea target Ezequiel Lavezzi but could miss out with the PSG attacker believed to favour a move to Juventus, according to the Independent.
Lavezzi only joined Paris Saint-Germain from Napoli two years ago and his 23 goals and 18 assists in 90 appearances have helped the French giants to consecutive Ligue 1 championship titles.
However, despite his impressive form, it appears he could be on his way out of the Parc des Princes with reports suggesting the 29-year-old will be sacrificed by boss Laurent Blanc – who needs to offload players in order to help fund a move for Real Madrid’s Angel Di Maria.
The uncertainty over his future has led to speculation linking him with the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal and more recently Liverpool, with the Independent claiming that Brendan Rodgers is lining-up a €23m offer.
The Merseyside boss is on the look-out for another forward to help fill the void left by Luis Suarez and it seems Lavezzi has been identified as a possible alternative to Loic Remy after a move for the Frenchman collapsed due to concerns over his medical.
The newspaper suggests that the Reds are hopeful of being able to lure Lavezzi to Anfield but they could have a tough task on their hand as it’s believed the Argentinean international would prefer a switch to Juventus – who are also showing a keen interest in taking him back to Italy.

However, it remains to be seen whether Juve will be able to agree a deal with PSG and the cash-strapped Serie A champions may need to sell before they can buy, so Liverpool are still in a strong position as they had ample funds left over from the sale of Suarez despite Rodgers already bringing in six players this summer.
Lavezzi is a versatile forward who can play anywhere across the front-line so he’d offer Liverpool plenty of options in attacker next season if he was to make the move to Anfield this summer, but we’ll have to see how things develop over the coming days as understandably they are not the only club in the running for his signature.
