Arsenal + Chelsea Preparing Cut-Price €6m Bids For French Midfielder
Arsenal and Chelsea are ready to table €6m bids for midfielder Adrien Rabiot after the youngster turned down Paris Saint-Germain’s latest contract offer
The summer transfer window is now well under way and managers are working hard to strengthen their squads ahead of next season, so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, Arsenal and Chelsea are set to move for PSG youngster Adrien Rabiot.
Arsenal and Chelsea are ready to table €6m bids for midfielder Adrien Rabiot after the youngster turned down Paris Saint-Germain’s latest contract offer, according to reports.
Rabiot has been with the Ligue 1 champions since 2010 and after two years in the youth team set up, he made his debut in the first team in 2012 and was expected to go on and become a regular.
However, the 19-year-old was sent out on loan to Toulouse in January 2013 to get some much-needed first team football under his belt after struggling to establish himself in Laurent Blanc’s side with the likes of Blaise Matuidi, Marco Verratti and Yohan Cabaye all ahead of him in the pecking order.
Rabiot has just one year remaining on his current deal and is now facing an uncertain future at the Parc des Princes after turning down PSG’s latest offer of a contract extension.
Speculation earlier this month suggested that Arsenal and Chelsea were keeping tabs on the midfielders situation with the Gunners understood to have opened talks over a potential deal, and the London duo have now been put on red alert after Le Parisien reported that PSG have told the youngster he is free to leave the club after spurning their advances of a new deal.
The French newspaper suggests that PSG are willing to sell Rabiot for just €6m (£5m) as they don’t want to lose him for nothing next summer, and Arsenal and Chelsea are believed to be ready to match that figure.
Arsene Wenger is on the look-out for a versatile defensive-minded player who can operate in a number of positions and with Rabiot able to play as a defensive midfielder and a centre-back, he is likely to appeal to to the Gunner coach.

Jose Mourinho is also keeping an eye out for further reinforcements during the final weeks of the transfer window and he is still to find a replacement for David Luiz – who was sold to PSG earlier this summer – and Rabiot could fit the bill nicely.
Both clubs have also been linked with Real Madrid’s Sami Khedira this summer but Rabiot would be a far cheaper and younger option so it’s no surprise to read these reports suggesting that Wenger and Mourinho are ready to battle-it-out over his signature.
