Agent Flies In To London For Arsenal + Chelsea Talks Ahead Of €15m Midfielder Move
The agent of German midfielder Sami Khedira is due in London today to hold talks with Arsenal and Chelsea about a potential €15m switch from Real Madrid
The summer transfer window is now well under way and managers are working hard to strengthen their squads ahead of next season, so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, the latest on Real Madrid’s Sami Khedira….
The agent of German international midfielder Sami Khedira is due in London today to hold talks with Arsenal and Chelsea about a potential €15m switch from Real Madrid, according to reports.
Khedira’s future has been speculated about on a daily basis this summer after it emerged he had rejected a contract extension offer and with just one year remaining on his current deal, it appears Madrid are now ready to cash in on the midfielder.
Arsenal were strongly linked with a move for the 27-year-old earlier in the summer and some reports even suggested the Gunners had agreed a deal with Madrid, but the move stalled over the players excessive wage demands, while Chelsea have also been credited with an interest.
Khedira was left out of Carlo Ancelotti’s squad for last weeks Super Cup win over Sevilla and now speculation suggests that he is certain to leave the Bernabeu after unsuccessful showdown talks with Madrid bosses over the weekend.
The Mirror are reporting that having already held talks with Bayern Munich, the players agent is due in London on Monday to negotiate terms with both Arsenal and Chelsea about a potential switch to the Premier League.
Madrid initially valued Khedira at around €25m but the newspaper states that the European champions are now willing to sell for just €15m (£12m) as they don’t want the German to be able to run down the final year of his deal and leave for nothing next summer.
While Arsenal were the early front-runners for the players signature, the Mirror seem to think that Chelsea are now in the box seat due to Jose Mourinho’s excellent relationship with Khedira and the fact they are willing to meet his wage demands.
Arsene Wenger is on the look-out for a dominant midfielder to help compliment the talents of Aaron Ramsey and Jack Wilshere in the middle of the part and Khedira would certainly be a superb addition for the north Londoners.

Chelsea’s need for a midfielder may be less obvious as Mourinho already has an exciting partnership of Nemanja Matic and Cesc Fabregas, but Khedira’s arrival could see the Spaniard move further up the field to play behind Diego Costa in the ‘hole’.
Wherever he ends up, Khedira would be an excellent signing and hopefully he opts for one of Arsenal or Chelsea above the likes of Bayern as it would be great to have another World Cup winner plying his trade in the Premier League.
