Manchester United will look to extend their unbeaten run when they face Southampton at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon. Here is the side we think Louis van Gaal will select:
Goalkeeper: David De Gea has been United’s most consistent performer this season so I highly doubt van Gaal will leave him out, despite the signing of Victor Valdes this week.
Defence: The Dutch coach has gone with three at the back of late and it looks like he’ll continue to do so again on Sunday. Marcos Rojo is close to making his comeback but this weekend may come too soon so Chris Smalling should keep his place, while Phil Jones and Jonny Evans should return in place of Tyler Blackett and Paddy McNair.
Midfield: van Gaal is expected to make several changes from the side that beat Yeovil in the FA Cup last weekend. Michael Carrick should get a recall and could be joined by Daley Blind in midfield after the Dutchman returned to training following a knee injury. Angel Di Maria marked his comeback with a goal last time out so he could start on the right with Rafael likely to miss out having fractured his cheekbone last weekend. Luke Shaw is available despite being forced off with an ankle knock against Yeovil while Marouane Fellaini is back in contention after returning to training following an injury.
Attack: Wayne Rooney could replace Juan Mata in the ‘hole’ behind the front two if van Gaal opts to start Radamel Falcao up front. Robin van Persie is almost certain to return having been rested last time out.
Here is how I think we’ll see United line-up:
What do you think of the team and what eleven would you pick?
