Arsenal & Man Utd Lead Chase For Bargain €25m Attacker
Arsenal and Manchester United now lead the chase for €25m Borussia Dortmund attacker Marco Reus after Bayern Munich dropped out of the race for his signature
With the January transfer window coming to a close, managers are frantically trying to tie-up those late deals and strengthen their squads ahead of the second half of the season, so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, Arsenal and Man Utd are linked with Marco Reus….
Arsenal and Manchester United now lead the chase for €25m Borussia Dortmund attacker Marco Reus after Bayern Munich dropped out of the race for his signature, according to reports.
Reus has cemented himself as one of the best attackers in Europe after two excellent seasons at Dortmund, where the winger has scored 47 goals in 99 appearances after making a move from Borussia Mönchengladbach back in 2012.
His future at the Westfalenstadion is uncertain due to a buy-out clause in his contract that kicks in during the summer that will allow him to leave for just €25m (£20m) – which represents an absolute bargain in today’s over inflated market for a player of his quality.
Understandably, there is plenty of interest with the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United keen on luring him to the Premier League but many assumed that Reus would follow the likes of Robert Lewandowski and Mario Gotze in joining Dortmund’s great rivals Bayern Munich.
However, the English pair have been handed a major boost with German newspaper Bild reporting that they are now leading the race after Bayern ended their interest in the 25-year-old attacker as Pep Guardiola has turned his attention to other targets.
Real Madrid could enter the running but you’d think Carlo Ancelotti would have to sell one of Gareth Bale, James Rodriguez or Cristiano Ronaldo to make room for Reus, and with Barcelona unable to buy until January 2016, it means that Arsenal and United are now well placed for his signature.

If either club could land Reus, it would be a major coup as he’s a special talent and is no doubt going to be the bargain of the summer for whoever ends up buying him – if he decides to leave Dortmund that is.
It would be interesting to see where he fit’s in at either club as Arsene Wenger and Louis van Gaal are already blessed with an array of attacking talent, but a player like Reus doesn’t become available very often and certainly not for just £20m, so I’m sure they’d find room in their squads for the German attacker if they can persuade him to come to England this summer.
