Predicting How the Newly Promoted Teams Will Deal in the Premier League

Here are some predictions on how these newly promoted teams will tackle the challenge as they go up against the big players of the division.

The countdown to the 2019/2020 Premier League campaign is already underway, bookies have got their betting guides ready, fans are sorting out game day plans and predictions of who will win and lose are already running high. With Norwich, Sheffield United and Aston Villa achieving promotion, thoughts have turned to how they will fare. The Premier League is a huge leap in quality and now they’re in, the work really starts. With everything to play for, here are some predictions on how these newly promoted teams will tackle the challenge as they go up against the big players of the division.

Norwich

While Sheffield United and Aston Villa, coached by Chris Wilder and Dean Smith respectively, are sure to have decent returns, it’s fair to say that Norwich seem to be slightly better prepared. While summer transfers could change that, in their current state, the team seem to be up for the challenge of taking on the Premier League elite thanks to the likes of Teemu Pukki, Marco Stiepermann and Emi Buendia forming a brilliant attack. Many feel that Norwich are most likely, out of the three, to see great success. With Daniel Farke known for his clear playing style and a shrewd operator when it comes to the transfer market, Norwich could see brilliant results. With the summer transfer market approaching, it will be interesting to see how they make changes in order to maximise their chances of success.

Aston Villa

Despite being the lowest of the three teams to get promoted, Aston Villa do have a good opportunity to do the best next season thanks to the appointment of Dean Smith. It’s believed that they’ll have a strong summer of transfers that will put them in a great place for 2019/2020. The big question surrounding Aston Villa at this stage is will they be able to get Tammy Abraham back on loan or find a suitable replacement to help them next season? The squad have a good track record for finding strong goal scorers, so if they can repeat history then they could see great results. While no club has a right to be in the Premier League, Villa’s return to top-flight feels more compulsory than the others. A series of bad decisions ruined their history as a mainstay in the division. But, now they’re back, Smith will do everything to keep them where they feel they belong.

Sheffield United

Sheffield United are most likely to go under the radar, with Chris Wilder seemingly the best tactically in terms of English managers right now. Combined with an old-school method of getting crosses in, it could take Premier League teams a while to figure them out, which could go in their favour. Next season could see the Blades catch a few teams off guard. United have a fearless approach that should serve them well in the Premier League. They’re scheduled to go up against Manchester City and Liverpool over the festive period – two matches that could wind up being the ultimate test of their mettle.
