Bayern Munich continue revamping squad ahead of new season

We look at some of the latest transfer stories surrounding Bayern Munich as they revamp their squad ahead of the new season.

Leroy Sane

As we count the days down to a new league season, Bayern Munich is still busy with their new manager figuring out their combinations and matchups. They are on a mission to rectify their mistakes from last season, which cost them the league title after a decade of winning it, and ensure that they live up to the expectations of everyone with Bayern Munich tickets.

While doing so, they are letting go of several team members in hopes of bringing in new, improved talent.  Niussair Mazraouni is one of the players who is leaving for Manchester United

Manchester United are closing in on signing Bayern Munich’s Noussair Mazraoui after agreeing a fee of between £15m and £20m for the right-back, with a potential stumbling block the need to sell Aaron Wan-Bissaka to finance the transfer.

While the Moroccan had been set to join West Ham, that deal fell through, and the East London club is now intent on recruiting Wan-Bissaka, though a price suitable to United still needs to be negotiated. West Ham had previously agreed a £12.6m plus £2.3m price with the German club for Mazraoui.

Erik ten Hag coached the 26-year-old at Ajax from 2018 up until he departs for Old Trafford four years later, and he believes Mazraoui can aid Antony’s form. Mazraoui supported the Brazilian on the Dutch club’s right flank during their title-winning seasons of 2020-21 and 2021-2022, and they impressed as a pairing.

For Mazraoui’s transfer to occur, Wan-Bissaka, with a year left on his contract, would have to depart first. The defender, signed from Crystal Palace for £45m in June 2019, would draw a fee of around £15m.

United also has concerns about the left-back position. Ten Hag’s first choice, Luke Shaw, who is not on the US tour due to his participation in the European Championship, has a track record of being serially injured.

Tyrell Malacia, his deputy, missed last season with a knee injury and was left out of the tour squad to continue his rehabilitation at the club’s Carrington training complex. This may cause United to move into the market for a left-back, though, as with the Mazraoui deal, funds would have to be generated first through sales.

For the fans with Bayern Munich tickets, the exiting Mazraouni didn’t have much to offer. The other key player’s performances often sidelined his accomplishments.

Leroy Sane to Arsenal?

Leroy Sane’s exit is one move fans with Bayern Munich tickets would want to avoid seeing. But according to reports, Arsenal are closing in on a deal for Sane.

According to reports in Germany, Arsenal is monitoring Leroy Sane’s situation at Bayern Munich.

Mikel Arteta’s side are still looking for new additions before the end of the summer transfer window after securing a £42 million deal for Riccardo Calafiori on Monday.

It’s understood that Arteta is keen to sign a versatile attacking player, with Spain’s Euro 2024 star Nico Williams reportedly on the club’s shortlist.

According to Sky Germany, Sane is also on Arsenal’s radar, and the Gunners are ‘closely’ monitoring the winger’s situation at Bayern Munich.

Sane, who joined Bayern in a £54.8m deal from Manchester City four years ago, has just a year remaining on his contract with the Bundesliga club and has yet to reach an agreement over an extension.

The report claims that Sane prefers to extend his stay with Bayern. However, Arsenal ‘senses a chance’ that a deal could be possible this summer, given that Bayern risks losing the 28-year-old on a free transfer next year.

Sane said of Arteta in April, ‘I was very happy to work with him. He helped me a lot there. ‘

‘We had many face-to-face conversations about how I could improve my game. I improved greatly because of his ideas, be it positional play or how I act in different situations.’

Meanwhile, Arteta revealed after Arsenal’s move for Calafiori that the club has already decided on their summer targets.

When asked what is next for Arsenal in the transfer market, Arteta said at his press conference on Monday: ‘Let’s see, we have to wait and see the market movements.

‘We already identified things we can improve since we had the meetings in February, March, and April.

Michael Olise Signs for Bayern

Bayern Munich have signed winger Michael Olise from Crystal Palace for about 60m euros (£50m).

The 22-year-old English-born France Under-21 forward made 90 appearances in all competitions over three seasons with Palace.

Olise, who joined the Eagles from Reading for £8m in July 2021, has signed a five-year deal. Those with Bayern Munich tickets welcome Olise’s signing and applaud the young talent’s advances.

Chelsea and Newcastle United registered their interest in Olise earlier this summer. Still, the winger has chosen to move to Germany, where he will work under Bayern Munich’s new manager, Vincent Kompany.

“I’m very happy to be playing for such a big club now – it’s a great challenge, and that’s exactly what I was looking for,” said Olise.

“I want to prove myself at this level and contribute to ensuring we win as many titles as possible in the coming years.”

Olise scored ten goals in 19 Premier League appearances as Palace finished 10th in the table last season.

“We are hugely proud of what Michael has achieved at Crystal Palace, a club where he has developed greatly as a player,” said Eagles chairman Steve Parish.

“We respect his desire to test himself at the highest level of world football.”

Bayern are also set to complete the signing of Fulham’s Joao Palhinha in a deal worth £42m plus £4m in add-ons. For Bayern and new manager Vincent Kompany, this is part of a greater plan to prolong Bayern’s dominance in Germany.

Adding newer talent who can grow alongside the team’s stars gives the club more versatility and squad depth.

But, it will all come down to how the seniors and the leadership react and provide opportunities.

Bayern Munich tickets for the new season are now out.
