Liverpool ‘considering’ signing Inter’s Denzel Dumfries

Liverpool are reportedly ‘considering’ signing Inter Milan defender Denzel Dumfries, as per TEAMtalk.
Since moving to Giuseppe Meazza Stadium from PSV Eindhoven back in 2021, the 29-year-old has enjoyed great success, winning a Serie A title and a few major domestic cup competitions.
Moreover, he helped his side reach the Champions League final twice before losing to Manchester City in 2023 and Paris Saint-Germain last year.
Dumfries has showcased his productivity in Serie A over the last few years but has struggled with fitness problems this term, featuring in only 20 matches across all competitions.
Still, he has netted three goals and kept as many clean sheets. Moreover, he has been helping the Nerazzurri to mount another title charge this campaign.
Having proven his worth in club football, the defender has been a key member of the Netherlands national team over the years.
Now, TEAMtalk claim that Liverpool are planning to sign a new right-back this summer as Conor Bradley has struggled with fitness problems this term. Moreover, Jeremy Frimpong has found it difficult to adapt to the Premier League yet.
Dumfries to Liverpool
Liverpool are ‘considering’ signing Dumfries after being offered the chance to seal the deal by his representatives. Arne Slot’s side hold a long-standing interest in the Inter star, with the Dutchman keen on playing in the Premier League, having proven his worth in the Italian top-flight.
Dumfries’ existing deal is set to run until 2028, and he has a £21m release clause. However, Inter are keen to remove the clause by handing him a fresh term.
Dumfries, standing at 6ft 2in tall, has been playing as a RWB for Inter but plays as a traditional right-back in a back four for the Netherlands national team.
He is quick, strong, good in the air, can chip in with some important goals, has the ability to deliver crosses from the flanks, and is efficient in defensive contributions. He is a talented player and could be a shrewd acquisition for Liverpool should they purchase him.
However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the Merseyside club eventually opt to formalise their interest in signing him in the upcoming summer transfer window.
