£37m South American Midfielder Agrees To Join Man Utd Following Talks With Mourinho
On loan Real Madrid midfielder James Rodriguez has expressed his desire to join Manchester United after holding talks with Jose Mourinho over the phone
The transfer window may be closed but managers are working hard on their plans for the summer so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, James Rodriguez is linked with Man Utd….
On loan Real Madrid midfielder James Rodriguez has expressed his desire to join Manchester United after holding talks with Jose Mourinho over the phone, according to a report by TeamTalk.
Rodriguez joined Bayern Munich on an initial two-year loan deal last summer after failing to establish himself at Madrid following his big-money move from Monaco in 2014.
The Colombian international has rediscovered some of his best form in Germany having provided 7 goals and 13 assists in his 36 appearances so far which includes a goal during Bayern’s Champions League semi-final with parent club Madrid on Tuesday night.
Having helped the Bavarian giants clinch another Bundesliga title, TeamTalk says Bayern have already stated their intention to use a £37m clause in his agreement to make the move permanent this summer.
However, it seems Rodriguez has other ideas as the report is citing El Gol Digital as claiming that the midfielder is ready to snub Bayern and force through a move to Man Utd instead.
The Spanish publication says Rodriguez has already held talks with Mourinho over the phone and told the United boss that he wants to make a move to Old Trafford this summer.
Understandably this hasn’t gone down well with Bayern or Madrid as they have an agreement in place so it’s going to be interesting to see how things play out from here.
If Rodriguez refuses to stay at Bayern on a permanent basis then we could see the German giants complete their proposed £37m deal before immediately selling Rodriguez to United at a profit.
Things could get messy if Bayern refuse to sell and force Rodriguez to stay or there is still the possibility they will cut short the loan deal and let Rodriguez return to Madrid – in which case United would then have to negotiate with the La Liga club.

We’ll have to see how the situation develops over the coming weeks but Mourinho could certainly do with the South American as I think he’d be an excellent addition to the United squad if they could get a deal agreed for his signature.
