By  Published: 2nd August 2012

With the summer transfer window in full swing, Football Talk will be keeping you up-to-date with all the latest transfer news throughout the summer. Today, Arsenal move a step closer to signing Santi Cazorla.

Santi-Cazorla

Malaga have confirmed midfielder Santi Cazorla has not attended training today amid reports he’s on his way to London to undergo a medical with Arsenal.

The club released an update on their official website of the players undergoing a training session on Thursday morning, and confirmed the only player to be absent was Cazorla:

“Santi Cazorla was the only player absent from this morning’s session, with permission from the Club.”

It read on MalagaCF.com

talkSPORT are one of several mainstream media outlets who report the 27-year-old is on-route to London to undergo a medical ahead of a proposed £17m move to Arsenal.

A picture of Cazorla at a Spanish airport has also been doing the rounds on Twitter, so it seems this transfer is edging ever closer. Only the more pessimistic of Arsenal fans would say this deal isn’t very much on.

Cazorla will be an excellent signing for the Gunners and it could be followed up by the loan signing of Nuri Sahin, if reports this morning are to be believed.

Santiago and sahin will be a gud signing if the deal is done. We still need someone like ganso, m’villa and one creative defender to back up the starting xi if any injury occur.

Probably the best signing this club could have made. The only other comparable midfield player is Wesley Sneijder. This guy is capable of dominating the midfield and is a game changer. First time I have had hope for this club since Cesc left.

we need somebody how loves this club even when we have it hard, you can see when club take care of the player when they are injiured, but as soon they can walk in stead of walk with Arsenal, they walk away, and they say we want trophy.
but good luck to him.long live Arsenal

What due mean he aint a regular for spain didnt u watch the euros? Hes been a regular 4a while now. Great addition to the team arsenal r starting to look a real dangerous team now trophys cant be to far away now. Prsonally i would put walcott upfont now if van p goes which he will n its not because he wants to win things its because of money i relly thought he was a step above most but money takes most. Shame he could of been a real legand but where ever he goes he will not do half to what he has or would of done with us gooners. How about baines for a left back? Dont need a defensive mid we have in frimpong n da other youngster the french bloke we was using just needs games will def get beta. Sorry for my spelling up the reds

I’m very happy that the deal is now as good as completed. This is a good statement of intent from Arsene, that we are now back to a team to challenge for trophies and not playing for only securing champions league berth. Gunnas 4 life!!!
