Manchester United will be looking to bounce back from their FA Cup loss when they take on Tottenham at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon. Here’s the starting eleven I think Louis van Gaal will go with:
Goalkeeper: No decision for van Gaal to make in goal as David De Gea is certain to start on Sunday.
Defence: Marcos Rojo is a major doubt after picking up a knock this week and van Gaal has strongly hinted he’ll rest the Argentinean international this weekend. With Jonny Evans suspended, we could see Phil Jones come in to start alongside Chris Smalling at the back. Luke Shaw should start at left-back but we may see Rafael return at right-back after impressing for the under-21’s, while Antonio Valencia could make way after his disappointing performance against Arsenal.
Midfield: Michael Carrick came on as a substitute at Old Trafford on Monday and the 33-year-old may now be fit enough to start alongside Daley Blind in midfield. Ander Herrera is the man most likely to make way while Angel Di Maria is suspended. Adnan Januzaj may be in the managers thoughts but I think we could see Juan Mata start with Ashley Young on the left-wing.
Attack: Robin van Persie is still out with an ankle injury so Wayne Rooney is expected to lead the line with Radamel Falcao clearly out-of-favour at the minute. Marouane Fellaini may not be everyone’s cup of tea but he’s a real handful and he should continue to support Rooney in attack.
Here is how I think we’ll see United line-up:
