Arsenal eased to a 3-0 victory over West Ham at the Emirates on Saturday afternoon. Olivier Giroud opened the scoring just before half time and late goals from Aaron Ramsey and Mathieu Flamini sealed the three points to cement our third-place position in the league and move us to within a single point of Manchester City.
Here are my ratings from the game:
Ospina 6.5/10 | Didn’t have too much to do. Made a couple of routine saves and was confident with his kicking.
Chambers 6.5/10 | Caught out of position a few times in the first half as Jarvis got in behind but was dangerous going forwards.
Mertesacker 7/10 | Solid display from Per. Always in the right place to snuff out any danger.
Koscielny 8.5/10 | Outstanding at the back. Swept up behind Mertesacker to dealt with the threat of Sakho. Made countless interceptions.
Monreal 7/10 | Mr dependable put in other solid shift. Was quick in the tackle and kept things simple with his passing.
Coquelin 8/10 | Another superb display in front of the back four. He’s become a real key player for us over the past two months.
Ramsey 9/10 | Back to his form of last season. All-action display from the first to the last minute. He set up the opener and scored the second after some lovely play with Giroud. Brilliant stuff.
Walcott 6/10 | A first half to forget for Theo as he missed three excellent opportunities to get on the scoresheet. The good thing is he’s getting into the positions to score but his finishing was woeful. Didn’t offer much after the break.
Ozil 7/10 | A very good first half from the German when he dictated play but faded after the break and his final ball was poor. Wasted a great chance to score when he elected to pass when well positioned in the area.
Alexis 6.5/10 | A rather disappointing shift from the Chilean. Held on to the ball for too long at times and was eventually subbed.
Giroud 8.5/10 | Outstanding display from the Frenchman. He opened the scoring with a stunning goal and showed his quality link-up play on numerous occasions, including setting up Ramsey for the second and playing a key role in the third.
Subs:
Welbeck 6.5/10 | Looked a threat down the left but lacked a final ball.
Cazorla 7/10 | Made a real impact and set-up the third goal for Flamini.
Flamini 7/10 | Scored his first goal in over a year.
