van Gaal Makes 1 Change: Predicted Man Utd Starting XI To Face Liverpool
Man Utd will be looking to give their Champions League hopes a boost when they take on Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday. Here’s our predicted line-up.
Manchester United will be looking to give their Champions League hopes a boost when they take on Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday afternoon. Here’s the starting eleven I think Louis van Gaal will go with:
Goalkeeper: No decision for van Gaal to make in goal as David De Gea is certain to start on Sunday.
Defence: Marcos Rojo is back in training but van Gaal says he’ll only be fit enough to make the bench so with Jonny Evans still suspended, Chris Smalling should continue alongside Phil Jones at the back. Luke Shaw is also set to return to the bench so Daley Blind will continue at left-back with Antonio Valencia keeping his place on the right side ahead of Rafael.
Midfield: Michael Carrick made a successful return to the starting eleven against Tottenham last week so he should start in midfield alongside Ander Herrera on Sunday. Angel Di Maria returns from a one-match suspension and is expected to come straight back into the side. Ashley Young has continued to impress in recent weeks so it could be Juan Mata who drops out, despite his solid display last weekend.
Attack: Robin van Persie is back running outside as he continues to step up his recovery from an ankle injury but he’ll once again sit on the sidelines for the Liverpool game. van Gaal is therefore expected to persist with Marouane Fellaini is support of Wayne Rooney up front as Radamel Falcao is still out-of-favour.
Here is how I think we’ll see United line-up:
