Manchester United have been offered the chance to sign long-term Arsenal target Sami Khedira but the midfielder is demanding a bumper £200,000-a-week deal
As the opening of the summer transfer window approaches, managers are working hard identifying targets and lining-up potential deals so we’ll bring you all the news and gossip. Today, Man Utd are offered Sami Khedira…
Manchester United have been offered the chance to sign long-term Arsenal target Sami Khedira but the midfielder is demanding a bumper £200,000-a-week deal, according to reports.
Khedira has been at Real Madrid since joining from Stuttgart in 2010 but is set to leave the Bernabeu at the end of the season as his deal expires in June and he’s yet to agree terms with the European champions over an extension.
His contract situation has understandably alerted a whole host of clubs not only in the Premier League but also throughout Europe, with the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool all reportedly keen while he’s also been linked with a move back to Germany.
Out of the Premier League clubs, Arsenal have shown the strongest interest to date with the Gunners understood to have held lengthy talks over a move last summer but Khedira’s wage demands prevented any possible deal taking place.
Arsene Wenger is expected to be in the market for a central midfielder again this summer and Khedira’s name has once again been linked with a potential move to the Emirates but it seems the North Londoners could face some stiff competition.
The Daily Star claim that Manchester United have now been offered the chance to sign the World Cup winner but he’s demanding a bumper £200,000-a-week deal in order to make the move to Old Trafford.
It remains to be seen whether United will be willing to meet his demands but boss Louis van Gaal is on the look-out for a dominant midfielder this summer and Khedira would be an excellent alternative to Kevin Strootman – who’s been plagued by serious injury over the past two seasons.
Khedira has world class pedigree and would bring with him a wealth of top level experience, and the 28-year-old could be the ideal man to replace the ageing Michael Carrick at the heart of the United side.

It’s certainly going to be interesting to see where Khedira ends up this summer but I’d love to see him try his luck here in the Premier League and think he’d be a great addition for United, or indeed Arsenal, but we’ll have to wait and see whether either club ends up winning the race for his signature.
