van Gaal Confident Of Landing £150,000-a-Week Midfielder Ahead Of Arsenal & Chelsea

Manchester United are confident they can fend off interest from Arsenal, Chelsea and Schalke to land Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira at the end of the season, according to reports.
Khedira is set to end his five-year stay at the Bernabeu when his contract expires in June after admitting he wants a new challenge and understandably there is no shortage of interest in his services.
The likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United are all reportedly keen on offering the 28-year-old a new start in the Premier League while Schalke have confirmed they have already held talks about taking Khedira back to his homeland.
Schalke president Clemens Tonnies recently told reporters:
“I have a high opinion of Sami Khedira because he’s a leader who can improve the team.
“He has an incredible reputation with the national team. We’ve spoken several times.
“Now, Horst Heldt [Schalke’s sporting director] and Khedira’s agent must find a satisfactory solution.”
However, the Mirror are reporting that Man Utd are now confident of beating their rivals to Khedira’s signature this summer and will offer the midfielder a bumper contract worth £150,000-a-week in order to persuade him to make a free transfer move to Old Trafford.
The German international is understood to want Champions League football, which most of the interested clubs should be able to offer, but it seems United are ready to flex their financial muscle in order to win the race for his signature.
No doubt Khedira is one of the most sought after players in Europe this summer as it’s not often a World Cup winner is available for nothing and he’d be an excellent signing for any of the top English clubs.

But if this report is accurate, then it appears United are confident of getting a deal agreed with the German star. Louis van Gaal is expected to be busy in the transfer market once again this summer and a dominant midfielder is likely to be a priority, so Khedira would certainly fit the bill.
However, we’ll have to see how this plays out over the coming months as until the player signs on the dotted line, there will continue to be speculation over where Khedira will be playing next season.
