Agent Confirms Chelsea Have Tabled €40m Bid, But Player Prefers Arsenal Move
Paulo Dybala’s agent has confirmed that Chelsea have tabled a €40m bid for the Palermo striker but Arsenal are supposedly the players first choice English club
As the opening of the summer transfer window approaches, managers are working hard identifying targets and lining-up potential deals so we’ll bring you all the news and gossip. Today, Chelsea have tabled a bid for Paulo Dybala….
Paulo Dybala’s agent has confirmed that Chelsea have tabled a formal €40m bid for the Palermo striker but Arsenal are supposedly the players first choice English club, according to reports.
Dybala is one of the hottest young properties in Europe after enjoying a breakthrough season at Palermo that’s seen him score 13 goals and provide 10 assists during his 31 appearances so far.
The 21-year-old is set for a move this summer after rejecting a new contract extension and he’s been linked with a whole host of clubs including the likes of Juventus, Arsenal and Manchester United.
However, it looks like Chelsea have stolen a march on their rivals as the strikers agent, Gustavo Mascardi, has now revealed that the Blues have tabled a formal €40m (£28.8m) offer for his services, while PSG have made an even higher €45m (£32.4m) bid.
With such strong interest already, Mascardi suggests Dybala won’t be sold for anything less than €50m (£36m) this summer but insists the player is in no rush to decide on his future.
“Paris St Germain have already come forward with an offer of about £32.4m and Chelsea had already reached £28.8m.
“We’re now at the stage where the price cannot be lower than €50m (£36m). Paulo is in no hurry and will take his decision calmly.” Mascardi is quoted as saying by the Evening Standard.
So it appears Chelsea are firmly in the race to sign Dybala this summer but Jose Mourinho may have some persuading to do if he can agree a fee as Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini told reporters in late March that Juventus and Arsenal have also tabled bids, with the Gunners understood to be the players preferred option if he opts for the Premier League.
“Juventus and Arsenal have already made offers.
“[Pierpaolo] Triulzi, the lad’s agent will be in Italy on Friday. I’m asking for more than €40m [£29m].
“Dybala would prefer to stay in Italy, but the British team Arsenal are the first choice of the lad because of the way Wenger’s team plays.” Zamparini is quoted as saying
It remains to be seen whether either Arsenal or Chelsea will be prepared to meet the supposed €50m (£36m) asking price but it seems the youngster is keen to play under Arsene Wenger at the Emirates if he does come to England.

However, there is intense competition for his signature from all over Europe, so it’s going to be interesting to see who wins the race, but if Juve are prepared to pay what Palermo are demanding, I have a feeling the Argentinean international may well head to the Serie A champions.
