Arsenal Set To Table Sizeable Offer For Man Utd Target, Player Ready To Move
Arsenal are ready to table a ‘sizeable’ offer for Dinamo Kiev defender Aleksandar Dragovic to try and beat Manchester United to his signature this summer
As the opening of the summer transfer window approaches, managers are working hard identifying targets and lining-up potential deals so we’ll bring you all the news and gossip. Today, Arsenal are ready to make their move for Alexsandar Dragovic….
Arsenal are ready to table a ‘sizeable’ offer for Dinamo Kiev defender Aleksandar Dragovic to try and beat Manchester United to his signature this summer, according to reports.
Dragovic has been a rock at the back for Kiev since joining the club from FC Basel in 2013 and helped them lift the Ukrainian Cup last season while they are also well on course to winning the league title this campaign.
The 24-year-old’s impressive form has led to interest from Arsenal and Manchester United with reports claiming that the English giants are both keen on luring him to England having watched the centre-back on several occasions over the past few months.
However, it appears the Gunners are now ready to steal a march on their rivals as the Metro claim that Arsene Wenger is set to table a ‘sizeable’ offer for the Austrian international in a bid to beat United to his signature.
The newspaper doesn’t state any precise figure but previous reports have suggested that Dragovic will command a fee in the region of €20m, so we’ll have to wait and see whether the North Londoners offer will come close to that valuation, but the Metro does claim that the player is ready to make the move to the Premier League this summer.
Dragovic has previously admitted that he’s excited by speculation linking him with the likes of Arsenal and Man Utd, so he’d no doubt jump at the chance of making the move if either club could agree a fee.
He’s quoted as telling reporters last month:
‘I would be lying if I said it is not something buzzing around in the back of my head. Such a thing I cannot leave cold,’
‘But as long as no concrete offer is on the table, I do not need to deal with it in more detail.
‘I dare to say that I could be in each team (Arsenal and United) and at the same time have a lot of room for improvement.
‘That gives me courage.’
If Arsenal are successful in landing Dragovic then the future of Per Mertesacker would surely come under serious doubt. Arsene Wenger only signed Gabriel in January and with the Brazilian expected to push for a regular first team place next season, any further arrivals in the middle of defence would push Mertesacker even further down the pecking order.

However, Louis van Gaal is also expected to be in the market for defensive reinforcements this summer so I wouldn’t discount United from the running just yet, but we’ll keep a close eye on developments over the coming weeks.
