As the opening of the summer transfer window approaches, managers are working hard identifying targets and lining-up potential deals so we’ll bring you all the news and gossip. Today, Arsenal are ready to make their move for Alexandre Lacazette…
Arsenal are hoping a €31m bid will be enough to see them beat Liverpool to the signing of Lyon hot-shot Alexandre Lacazette this summer, according to reports.
Lacazette has been with Lyon his entire career having joined the clubs youth system as a seven year-old in 1998 and made his way through the ranks before breaking into the first team set-up in 2009.
The 23-year-old took a few years to develop his game but after netting 22 goals last season, the French international has scored 30 in his 37 appearances so far this term to help Lyon to the top of the Ligue 1 standings.
His stunning form has caught the eye of some big Premier League clubs with reports in recent months suggesting that Arsenal and Liverpool are keen on luring him to England this summer.
However, it appears the Gunners are ready to steal a march on the Merseysiders as the Express are reporting today that Arsene Wenger is ready to make a formal play for Lacazette’s signature by tabling a €31m (£22m) offer.
It remains to be seen how Liverpool will react to the news but I’m not sure that kind of money will be enough to persuade Lyon into a sale. The clubs president Jean-Michel Aulas is notoriously difficult to deal with and he’s previously claimed that Lacazette is better than Gareth Bale, so no doubt they’ll demand huge money for their star man.
Arsene Wenger is likely to be on the look-out for a top class striker to compete with Olivier Giroud next season and Lacazette would be an exciting addition, so it comes as no surprise to read he’s ready to make a move for the Frenchman.

But Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has admitted that he’ll bring in more firepower after seeing Daniel Sturridge struggle with injuries all season and Lacazette would certainly provide the goal-threat they’ve been lacking, so I’m sure the Merseysiders won’t give up without a fight.
We’ll have to wait and see if either club can agree a deal with Lyon but I’d personally love to see Lacazette come to England as he’s a huge talent with a bright future ahead of him.
