Infographic: Travel and Tourism Income Generated From The Champions League
Here is an interesting Infographic by GoEuro would be of interest as it looks at how the Champions League has affected the European travel and tourism industry.
With a mouthwatering Champions League final between Barcelona and Juventus on the horizon, I thought this Infographic compiled by GoEuro would be of interest as it looks at how the competition has affected the European travel and tourism industry.
The results are extremely interesting with almost £170 million generated in travel income from Champions League games when taking into account the cost of transport, accommodation, refreshments and merchandise.
Cities such as Barcelona, Munich and Turin have all made an estimated £4,032,600 from the income generated from Barca, Bayern and Juve making it through to the semi-final stages. However, Madrid missed out on over £1 million in tourism income after Real and Atletico were drawn against each other in the quarter finals.
It was a disappointing campaign for Premier League clubs and their failure to progress past the last 16 stage hit the travel and tourism industry too, as London and Manchester missed out on over £1.3 million in income from each team who failed to progress to the last 8.
Those are just some of the interesting stats and figures outlined in the Infographic, check out the full details below:
