Manchester United have joined Arsenal in the chase for Galatasaray’s €23m-rated goalkeeper Fernando Muslera this summer, according to reports.
Muslera has been with Galatasaray since joining the club from Lazio in 2011 and he’s just enjoyed another excellent season in the Turkish top flight with his displays helping the team reclaim the Super Lig title.
Reports last week claimed that Arsenal had identified the 28-year-old as a potential target this summer as Arsene Wenger looks to bring in another top class goalkeeper having lost faith in Wojciech Szczesny last season.
The Gunners key priority is still Chelsea’s Petr Cech but the North Londoners have Muslera down as a back-up option in-case they fail to persuade the Premier League champions to do business with a direct rival.
However, it seems Arsenal will now face competition for Muslera’s signature as the Daily Star claim that Manchester United have joined the race and are also keeping a close eye on the players situation.
United are understood to be resigned to losing David De Gea to Real Madrid this summer so Louis van Gaal is busy drawing-up a list of potential replacements, and it appears he’s now added the Uruguayan international to his short-list.
Galatasaray would like to keep hold of the 28-year-old but accept he’s likely to leave this summer and the Daily Star claim they are willing to cash-in if their €23m (£15m) asking price is met.
Muslera has plenty of experience both at club and international level, with the former Lazio stopper capped 66 times by the Uruguayan national team and he played in all 4 matches at last summers World Cup final’s in Brazil.

It remains to be seen whether Arsenal or United will make their interest formal this summer but as talented as Muslera is, I still think Petr Cech would be a far safer bet for either Arsenal or indeed United and they should only move for the South American if other targets aren’t attainable.
