Manchester United will have to navigate past a two legged play off against Club Brugge in order to qualify for the group stages of the Champions League.
United finished fourth in the Premier League last season but missed out on automatic qualification to the Champions League meaning they’d have to go through the play-offs.
Thanks to their rich history in the competition, United were one of the five seeded teams in today’s draw meaning they would avoid teams such as Valencia and Bayer Leverkusen.
The draw was conducted this morning and United have been handed a favourable draw having been pitted against Club Brugge of Belgium.
Club Brugge won the Belgian Pro League last season and booked their place in the Champions League play offs with a 4-2 victory over Panathinaikos on Wednesday night.
However, I’m sure Louis van Gaal will be extremely confident of beating them over two legs to secure their place in the group stages of the Champions League.
The first leg will be played at Old Trafford on 18/19th August with the return away leg the following week on 25/26th.
