Man Utd Star Set For First Team Return Against Liverpool

David De Gea is set to make his return to the Manchester United first team against Liverpool at Old Trafford this weekend following the collapse of his move to Real Madrid, according to the Mirror.
The goalkeeper is yet to feature for United this season after Louis van Gaal axed him from his first team plans while a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid was being thrashed out.
The proposed move dramatically collapsed last week after the paperwork wasn’t submitted to the relevant authorities in time, meaning De Gea will now be forced to see out the remaining year of his contract at Old Trafford.
Sergio Romero has filled-in during his absence but the Argentine has failed to convince that he’s the man to keep the No.1 jersey over the long term and it looks like van Gaal is now ready to welcome De Gea back in to the first team fold.
The Mirror claim that with the 24-year-old set to start for Spain in their 2016 European Championship qualifier against Macedonia, the keeper will then be in-line to start for United when they entertain Liverpool on Saturday evening.
Only time will tell how ready De Gea is for first team duties as he didn’t look himself during pre-season while the speculation over his future intensified – although we should get a good idea of his mind-set when he plays for Spain tonight.
As long as he looks confident between the sticks, I think it would be wise for van Gaal to restore him to the first team this weekend as United will be desperate to get one over their North West rivals and having their best player back in the side will be a major boost.
