Tottenham vs Liverpool Preview, Team News, Likely Line-Ups, Betting & Prediction
Liverpool take on Tottenham at White Hart Lane on Saturday. Here’s a preview with team news, likely line-ups, betting and predicted score for the game.
All eyes will be on Jurgen Klopp as he takes charge of Liverpool for the first time when the Reds take on Tottenham at White Hart Lane on Saturday lunchtime.
The German took over from Brendan Rodgers in the Anfield hot-seat last week and will look to immediately lift the spirits around the club following a difficult start to the season.
A 1-1 draw away at Everton before the international break meant the Reds had won just one of their previous nine games in all competitions but to change that run, Klopp is going to have to become the first manager since 1985 to begin his reign at Liverpool with a victory.
Tottenham away is a tough introduction to life in the Premier League for the former Borussia Dortmund coach as the North Londoners are the only side not to have lost since the opening weekend of the season.
Despite this record, Spurs sit just one point above Liverpool in the table in eighth place so Mauricio Pochettino will be hoping to jump up in to the top four with a win tomorrow lunchtime.
Back Spurs to win at 7/1 or Liverpool at 9/1 + money back if you lose
Team news
Tottenham have been boosted by the news that Danny Rose is fit again having recovered from a wrist injury so he could start at left-back ahead of Ben Davies.
However, midfielders Ryan Mason (knee) and Nabil Bentaleb (ankle) both remain sidelined while Eric Dier must serve a one-game suspension after collecting five bookings this season.
Striker Heung-Min Son is also unavailable after he was ruled out for three weeks with a foot injury so Nacer Chadli is expected to start in attack.
Liverpool have suffered two major injury blows ahead of the game with Danny Ings and Joe Gomez both ruled out for the season with serious knee injuries.
The duo will join Christian Benteke on the sidelines as the striker is still nursing a hamstring problem while Roberto Firmino is also out with a back injury.
However, Klopp has better news regarding the fitness of Philippe Coutinho with the playmaker expected to be passed fit despite withdrawing from the Brazil squad with a groin injury.
Jordan Henderson and Jon Flanagan remain out with long-term injuries.
Likely Line-Ups
Predicted Score
Tottenham 2-2 Liverpool: It’s going to be interesting to see how Klopp’s new Liverpool play tomorrow but Spurs are going to be a tough side to beat and I think we’ll see an entertaining score draw.
Betting Tips
The bookmakers can hardly separate the two teams but Football-Talk can get new customers enhanced odds of 7/1 on a Tottenham win or 9/1 on a Liverpool win. My prediction of 2-2 is available at odds of 12/1, while I also like the look of Daniel Sturridge to open the scoring at odds of 6/1. If we combine those two bets in a score-cast, then we get very tempting odds of 70/1.
