Arsenal’s hopes of qualifying from Group F received a blow after losing 5-1 to Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday night. Here are my ratings:
Arsenal’s hopes of qualifying from Group F received a blow after losing 5-1 to Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday night.
Here are my ratings:
Cech 6.5/10 | Actually kept the score down by making a few decent saves, including one excellent stop from Muller.
Debuchy 4/10 | Another poor showing from the Frenchman. Skinned numerous times by the likes of Alaba.
Mertesacker 5/10 | Poor attempt to close down the Muller’s first goal and lack of pace was exposed.
Gabriel 5/10 | At fault for the opener as he played Lewandowski onside for the opener.
Monreal 5/10 | Another who was caught out by Bayern’s superb pace and movement in attack.
Cazorla 5.5/10 | Missed a glorious chance to score by fired straight at Muller. Also lost possession for the third goal.
Coquelin 5.5/10 | Worked hard as usual but couldn’t get a hold of the midfield.
Campbell 4/10 | Disappointing display. Failed to help out Debuchy sufficiently and was subbed early in the second half.
Ozil 6.5/10 | Slightly unfortunate to see his elbowed goal ruled out and was our most dangerous player.
Alexis 5/10 | Set up the Giroud goal with a lovely ball but did little else. Looks tired.
Giroud 6.5/10 | Stunning goal and linked up well with his team mates whenever he saw the ball. Worked hard under tough conditions.
Subs:
Gibbs [6], Iwobi [N/A], Chambers [N/A]
It was certainly a night to forget and qualification from the group is now out of our hands. If Olympiakos get a result in Munich, we’re screwed. If Bayern do us a favour and we beat Zagreb, then we need to beat the Greeks by two clear goals to take second spot.
