Arsenal Star An Injury Doubt After Picking Up Calf Problem

Arsenal are sweating on the fitness of Alexis Sanchez after the attacker picked up a calf knock while away on international duty with Chile this week, according to the Daily Mail.
Sanchez started in Chile’s World Cup qualifying draw against Colombia last week but he is now considered as a doubt for the Copa America champions clash with Uruguay in Montevideo tonight.
Chile manager Jorge Sampaoli confirmed to reporters that Alexis is suffering from pain in his calf and they’ll make a late decision over his availability to play in their latest 2018 World Cup qualifier.
Sampaoli is quoted as saying by the Daily Mail:
‘Alexis has a pain in his calf and we will wait for him until the last minute to see if he is ready to play,’
The news will come as a major concern to Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger as he’s voiced concerns in recent weeks that Sanchez is in the ‘red zone’ and was at risk of picking up an injury if he wasn’t rested soon.
We’ll have to wait and see whether Alexis lines-up for Chile later today but I’m sure Wenger will be disappointed if his country decides to play him when not 100% fit.
We have a busy period coming up that will see us play crucial Premier League games against West Brom, Norwich and Sunderland while our Champions League fate will also be decided over the coming weeks, so it will be a huge blow if Sanchez was to be ruled out.
