[Video Goals] West Brom 2-1 Arsenal: Gunners Blow Chance To Go Top

Arsenal wasted a golden opportunity to move top of the Premier League table after slipping to a 2-1 defeat at West Brom this afternoon.

After a sloppy start, we broke the deadlock when Olivier Giroud headed home Mesut Ozil’s free-kick for 0-1 in the 28th minute. It was the Frenchman’s seventh goal in 10 games while Ozil set a new Premier League record for assisting in seven consecutive matches.

The hosts levelled things up just 10 minutes later when Chris Brunt’s free-kick was superbly volleyed home at the far post by James Morrison for 1-1 before Mikel Arteta put through his own net for 2-1 just before half-time.

We were then gifted the perfect opportunity to level things up in the 86th minute when Alexis Sanchez was fouled in the area by Brunt but Santi Cazorla slipped to send the spot kick well over the bar.

We couldn’t find a way back so slumped to a 2-1 defeat which leaves us sitting fourth in the table after both Manchester United and Leicester City won this afternoon.
