Manchester United were handed a major double injury boost after two of their key men returned to training today. Find out more here.
Manchester United have been handed a major double injury boost after Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial returned to training ahead of tomorrow night’s Champions League clash against PSV Eindhoven.
Rooney missed United’s 2-1 win at Watford on Saturday due to illness while Martial also missed the trip to Vicarage Road after suffering a foot injury during France’s friendly defeat to England last week.
However, the duo were back out on the training pitch with the rest of the first team squad on Tuesday putting them in contention for tomorrow night’s crucial clash with PSV at Old Trafford.
Louis van Gaal’s men go into the game knowing victory will secure safe passage to the knockout stages of the competition so it will come as a huge boost for the Dutch boss to have two of his key men available again.
However, it wasn’t all good news for United as Ander Herrera and Phil Jones were among the absentees in training today after the pair were forced off against Watford with injuries while Michael Carrick was also absent as he continues to recover from a foot problem.
The full training group at training today was: De Gea, Romero; Rojo, Smalling, Blind, Varela, McNair, Darmian, Poole; Mata, Young, Powell, Fellaini, Schneiderlin, Lingard, Pereira, Goss, Weir; Memphis, Rooney, Martial, Wilson.
