Arsenal Team News: Wenger Reveals Fresh Injury Concern + The Ox & Walcott Updates
Arsene Wenger has revealed a fresh injury concern ahead of the Norwich game and has given updates on the fitness of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Theo Walcott
Arsenal get back to Premier League action this weekend with a trip to Carrow Road to take on Norwich City on Sunday afternoon.
Ahead of the game, Arsene Wenger has been speaking at his pre-match press conference this morning and has given reporters a team news and injury update.
Unfortunately, the boss revealed a fresh injury concern with star attacker Alexis Sanchez a slight doubt for the game after picking up a minor hamstring problem.
Wenger will assess the Chilean international over the coming days before deciding on whether he’ll feature at Norwich but suggests he’s unlikely to rest him if the clubs medical team say he’s fit to start.
There was some more positive news on the injury front as the boss also confirmed that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could finally make his return this weekend.
The England international has been out for over a month after suffering a hamstring injury during our Capital One Cup loss at Sheffield Wednesday but he should be back in contention against Norwich.
Wenger also gave an update on the fitness of Theo Walcott as he continues to recover from a calf problem he sustained at Hillsborough last month and revealed that the forward is now back running again but will still be short for this weekend.
Here is what the boss is quoted as saying by reporters at his press conference:
Wenger says Sanchez had a small hamstring alarm but always difficult to rest him if medics say he is ok

Obviously it would be a big blow if we were to lose Sanchez but I certainly wouldn’t take any chances with his fitness. If he’s not 100%, then leave him on the bench and start Oxlade-Chamberlain.
The last thing we need is Alexis aggravating his hamstring this weekend and being ruled out for weeks, and he needs a rest anyway, so let’s not take any risks against Norwich.
