Liverpool will look to get back to winning ways when they take on Watford at Vicarage Road on Sunday afternoon.

The Reds have hit a slump in form at just the wrong time of the season as they followed-up defeat at Newcastle United two weeks ago with a disappointing 2-2 draw at home to West Brom last weekend.

Those results have left Liverpool sitting ninth in the Premier League table and five points adrift of fourth-placed Tottenham so boss Jurgen Klopp will be desperate to get their campaign back on track with a win tomorrow.

Watford on the other hand come into the game in excellent form having won each of their last three games and currently sit two places above Liverpool in the standings so they should be confident of picking up another positive result tomorrow.

However, with games against Tottenham, Manchester City and Chelsea to come over the festive period, Quique Sanchez Flores knows the club are facing a testing few weeks so he’ll be keen to keep up the momentum with a win against Liverpool.

Team news

The Merseysiders must make do without the services of James Milner after he suffered a minor calf injury in training this week so Lucas Leiva should be restored in midfield.

Dejan Lovren is also out with a knee injury but the Croatian centre-back could be available for the game with leaders Leicester City on Boxing Day.

Mamadou Sakho is fit and available for selection so the Frenchman is expected to start alongside Martin Skrtel in defence, but Daniel Sturridge remains sidelined with a hamstring injury.

Watford have no fresh injury concerns to deal with but Valon Behrami and Sebastian Prodl could be back in the squad after recovering from their injury problems.

However, Tommie Hoban remains sidelined with a groin injury while fellow defender Joel Ekstrand is also still out with a knee problem.

Watford 1-2 Liverpool: The Reds were disappointing against West Brom last week so I’m sure Klopp will be demanding a response from his players tomorrow afternoon. Watford are in superb form but I have a feeling the Reds are going to edge this one.
