Sunderland vs Liverpool Preview, Team News, Line-Ups, Betting Tips & Prediction
Liverpool take on Sunderland at the Stadium of Light this evening. Here’s a preview with team news, likely line-ups, betting tips and predicted score.
Liverpool will look to close in on the top four when they take on Sunderland at the Stadium of Light this evening.
The Reds beat Leicester City 1-0 at Anfield on Saturday but despite that impressive victory they head into tonight’s game sitting tenth in the Premier League table.
However, another win would see the Merseysiders move level on points with sixth-placed Manchester United and within five points of fourth-placed Tottenham so Jurgen Klopp will be keen to come away with another victory this evening.
Sunderland won’t make it easy though as they’re in desperate need of a positive result themselves with Boxing Day’s 4-1 defeat at Manchester City leaving them seven points from safety in the relegation zone.

Team news
Liverpool are likely to be without the services of striker Divock Origi after the Belgian international was forced off during the win over Leicester with a muscle injury.
Daniel Sturridge has declared himself ‘ready to go’ but Klopp has confirmed the club are going to be cautious over his return to action so he’s not expected to play any part just yet.
Jordon Ibe is back in contention after recovering from illness but James Milner and Martin Skrtel remain out through injury.
As for Sunderland, they are expected to be without skipper John O’Shea after he picked up a calf injury last time out so Sebastian Coates is set to face his former side.
Younes Kaboul and Seb Larsson remain out with long-term injury problems.
Likely Line-Ups
Predicted Score
Sunderland 1-2 Liverpool: The Reds put in a decent shift against Leicester last time out and although I expect Sunderland to put up a good fight this evening, I can see Liverpool edging it to move level on points with Man Utd.
Betting Tips
Liverpool are the 13/20 favourites with the bookmakers but Football-Talk can get you enhanced odds of 4/1 on a Reds win if you click here. My prediction of 2-1 is on offer at odds of 15/2 and I also like the look of Benteke opening the score at 9/2. If we combine those two bets in a score-cast, then we get very tempting odds of 22/1.
