Liverpool Team News: Klopp Confirms Triple Boost But Duo Ruled Out Of Man Utd Game
Jurgen Klopp has confirmed a triple injury boost ahead of Liverpool’s clash with Man Utd on Sunday but a key duo have been ruled out of the game.
Liverpool will look to give their top four hopes a major boost when they entertain Manchester United at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.
Ahead of the game Jurgen Klopp has been speaking to the media at his pre-match press conference this morning and he’s given reporters a team news and injury update.
The German coach confirmed that Jordan Henderson, Jordon Ibe and Mamadou Sakho all came through Wednesday night’s thrilling 3-3 draw with Arsenal at Anfield unscathed.
Henderson made his comeback from a foot injury in midweek while Ibe and Sakho both made their returns from hamstring problems but all three showed no signs of discomfort and are therefore available to face United on Sunday.
However, it wasn’t all good news as Klopp confirmed that Daniel Sturridge will once again miss out as he looks to build up his fitness following another frustrating injury-plagued campaign.
Sturridge has been undergoing a personalised training programme in recent weeks but Klopp says he’s still not fit enough to return and he has no idea when the striker will be available for selection.
The Reds boss also revealed that Dejan Lovren won’t be considered against United as he is still feeling the effects of a hamstring injury that he picked up against West Ham at the start of the month.
With Martin Skrtel also sidelined, Kolo Toure has been deputising in the centre of defence in recent games and Klopp says the Ivory Coast international is still in an ice bath after putting in a superb effort against the Gunners on Wednesday night.
Here is what the Reds boss told reporters:
Klopp: "Henderson okay, Ibe okay, Sakho okay. Kolo is still in the ice bath. No update on Sturridge."

Liverpool head into the United game sitting ninth in the Premier League table and five points adrift of the top four so Klopp will be hoping to secure a positive result against their North West rivals this weekend in order to give their Champions League hopes a major boost.
