Chelsea Star An Injury Doubt For Crucial Trip To Arsenal

Chelsea are sweating on the fitness of Diego Costa as the Spanish international is a doubt for Sunday’s crucial trip to Arsenal due to a shin injury, according to the Mirror.
Costa scored his fifth goal in as many games as Chelsea came from 2-0 down to salvage a 3-3 draw against Everton thanks to a controversial last gasp equaliser from John Terry on Saturday afternoon.
However, the striker failed to complete the full ninety minutes after being forced off with a shin injury and Guus Hiddink confirmed after the game that the 27-year-old had been sent to hospital for scans.
The good news for Chelsea is that the Mirror claim those tests have shown no sign of serious damage and Costa has only suffered bruising to his tibia following the clash with Leighton Baines during the closing stages of the second half.
But the newspaper suggests that it’s not clear how long the striker is going to be sidelined for and he’s now considered a doubt for Sunday’s trip to face Arsenal at the Emirates.
Costa reported for training on Sunday despite being given two days off by Hiddink so it appears the Brazilian-born hitman is keen to get himself back in shape as quickly as possible.
Chelsea will be praying the former Atletico Madrid striker can make a swift recovery as it would be a major blow for the Blues if he was to miss the Arsenal game this coming weekend.
Loic Remy would be next in line to start up front but the Frenchman has only recently returned from a calf injury and is still working on his match fitness while Radamel Falcao remains sidelined with a thigh problem, so Hiddink will be desperate for Costa to be passed fit to face the Gunners.
