With the winter transfer window now open for business, manager’s are working hard trying to strengthen their squads ahead of the second half of the season. Today, Arsenal are linked with Adrien Rabiot….
Arsenal have made contact with Paris Saint-Germain and asked to be kept informed over the availability of Manchester United target Adrien Rabiot this month, according to the Evening Standard.
Rabiot has long been linked with a move to the Premier League and the speculation has intensified in recent weeks after it emerged that the midfielder has fallen out with PSG over a lack of regular playing time.
The 20-year-old has started just nine league games this season and angered boss Laurent Blanc when he claimed that president Nasser Al-Khelaifi had promised he would be allowed to leave this month if he wasn’t a first team regular.
The uncertainty over his future has once again led to interest from England with the Evening Standard claiming that Arsenal have followed Manchester United in expressing their interest in signing the French U21 international.
The newspaper suggests that Arsene Wenger has used his strong relationship with the Ligue 1 outfit to make a personal request that he’s kept informed of Rabiot’s situation and given the opportunity to match any offer that’s put on the table this month.
PSG are reluctant to lose one of France’s most talented young players but the Standard claim they would find it difficult to resist should an offer in the region of £22.9m [€30m] come in for the unsettled midfielder.
It remains to be seen whether Arsenal or United will be willing to match that figure but Rabiot would be a fine addition to either squad if they were able to get a deal agreed with PSG for his signature.

The Gunners have only recently signed Mohamed Elneny but with Tomas Rosicky, Mathieu Flamini and Mikel Arteta all set to leave when their contracts expire in June, Wenger is going to need further reinforcements in the middle of the park and Rabiot would fit the bill nicely.
However, I wouldn’t discount United as the Frenchman would also be an excellent signing for the Red Devils as Michael Carrick turns 35 in July and Rabiot could be viewed y Louis van Gaal as the ideal long-term replacement.
