Manchester United will look to break in to the top four when they take on Southampton at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon. Here is the side I think van Gaal will pick:
Goalkeeper: David de Gea is certain to start between the sticks once again this weekend.
Defence: Ashley Young is set to miss out after being forced off with an injury during last weekend’s 1-0 win over Liverpool so youngster Cameron Borthwick-Jackson could start at left-back with Matteo Darmian resuming his role at right-back.
There has been no update on the fitness of Phil Jones so we’ll have to assume the defender will remain out with a foot problem. Therefore, Daley Blind should continue alongside Chris Smalling at the back. Marcos Rojo, Luke Shaw and Antonio Valencia remain on the sidelines.
Midfield: Bastian Schweinsteiger missed the victory at Anfield with a knee injury but the German international is expected to make his return this weekend and should replace Marouane Fellaini alongside Morgan Schneiderlin in the middle of the park with Michael Carrick nursing a knock.
Attack: Wayne Rooney was among the goals again last week so he should continue to lead the line up front with Anthony Martial offering support from out wide. Ander Herrera should retain his place in the attack but we could see Juan Mata come back in for Jesse Lingard.
Here is how we think United will line-up:
What do you think? What line-up would you like to see start?
